Electrical engineer, GRIPS Tokyo scholar, Kenya government energy professional, and founder of Dennohxy Corporation Limited.
Dennis Otieno is an electrical engineer with professional experience at the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) of Kenya. His work has spanned rural electrification, renewable energy systems, and productive-use energy in Kenya's underserved counties.
Selected for Japan's Japan Development Service (JDS) scholarship programme, Dennis enrolled at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo — one of a small cohort of East African engineers chosen for Japan's senior-level knowledge transfer programme. GRIPS exposed him to Japanese industrial policy, manufacturing systems, and the strategic logic of technology transfer as a development tool.
Dennohxy Corporation Limited was born from that experience — the conviction that Japan's industrial playbook, applied with discipline in East Africa, could unlock a generation of productive economic opportunity.
Dennis operates Dennohxy Corporation in his personal capacity. His position at REREC is entirely separate: no government resources, time, data, or official position are used for Dennohxy's benefit. This firewall is non-negotiable and is documented in Dennohxy's Ethics Statement.
